2nd-3rd century AD. A carved limestone male head with short tousled hair, wreath to the brow with central rosette, large doleful eyes, narrow nose and small mouth, short beard to the cheeks and throat; socket to the reverse. 2 kg, 17.5cm (7"). Property of a London lady, part of her family's Swiss collection; formerly acquired in the 1980s. [No Reserve]
