Parthian Gold Earrings with Garnet Drops
1st century BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each a crescent plaque with ends extended to form a hook-and-eye closure, three cells each with a garnet cabochon, three wire dangles each with a spherical garnet bead. 8.01 grams total, 30mm (1 1/4"). From a London collection; previously acquired on the UK art market in the 1980s. [2]
