Egyptian Bronze Frog Weight
New Kingdom, 1550-1070 BC. A bronze figurine of a squatting frog with extended forelegs. Cf. Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, item 28(h"). 133 grams, 70mm (2 3/4"). From the Aldred family private collection; acquired by the vendor's father before 1950. The frog was sacred to the goddess Heqet and associated with the fertility brought by the flooding of the River Nile. [No Reserve]
