These jetons or medalets are official restrikes by the Paris mint from the series that was struck from 1751-1758, each year having an issue; they "advertised" the riches of the New World to potential settlers. The obverses usually honored the King and the reverse vignettes typically suggested the rich bounty of New France, showing crops and animals or pelts associated with the fur trade, tempting the emigration of French citizens to colonial America (Canada and the areas bordering the Mississippi River).
