Description

JIND: Gajpat Singh, 1763-1789, AR rupee (11.00g), "Sahrind", ND, KM-1, SS-271, Temple-15, with the flower within the S of jalus, lovely bluing toning, especially on obverse, same reverse die as Lot 1485, choice VF, R, ex Mohun Singh Collection. The three-petal flower is the standard symbol of Jind, found on most of its rupees in the same position. The mint name for Sahrind always has the "h" and "r" reversed, thus "sarhind", as opposed to the Mughal and Durrani issues, which have the traditional form "sahrind".
