Description

TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, cast large tin coin (21.59g), Robinson—, 52mm, 10 dots around large raised circle, all with a 7-petal flower, anepigraphic and uniface, EF, RRR. Although the uniface design, with a central raised circle, resembles a mirror, the overall appearance suggests that this item was never intended to be a mirror, but just another form of Tenasserim coinage. The raised central circle, similarly surrounded, appears on Robinson 77 & 78 (Plate 14.1 & 14.2, respectively), both of which are two-sided, not uniface.
