Description

TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, cast large tin coin (72.03g), Robinson-18 (Plate 10.1), 69mm, mythical hintha bird facing right, Burmese legend around, which means "city of great happiness" // knotted dragon above the sea, stunning bold fantastic example! EF-AU, RRR. The obverse was published by Elizabeth Moore, "Dawei Buddhist culture: a hybrid borderland," in Myanmar Historical Research Journal, vol. 21 (June 2011), cast from the same obverse die as illustrated by Moore.
