TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, octagonal cast tin large coin (29.23g), Robinson-9 (plate 7.5), 56mm, hintha bird right, on pedestal, 2 chinese characters above, min an (the people of peace) // stylized 3-line Burmese legend, with small square in the center, thus imitating the center of a Chinese cash coin, clear surfaces, several natural casting holes, light surface porosity, VF, RR. On virtually all the large coins of Tenasserim, the tin is mixed with varying amounts of lead, with lead dominant in some examples. None of the octagonal Tenasserim large coins have yet appeared on CoinArchives. This specimen is much superior than the example illustrated by Robinson.
