Description

SAFAVID: Sulayman I, 1668-1694, AR abbasi (7.24g), Badakhshan, AH1087, A-2660, local style, perhaps the issue of an anti-Janid uprising, recognizing the Safavid ruler in hopes of military assistance, unpublished and likely unique, VF-EF, RRR.

We have read the mint name as Badakhshan, but others interpret it as Sistan (سيستان), claiming that what I read as “b.d” as the first letters if “badakshan” (بدخشان) is just an ornament. Basically, both interpretations of the mint name are possible, and in any case, either mint is exceedingly rare.
