CARACALLA, A.D. 198-217. Mesopotamia, Carrhae. BI Tetradrachm (16.13 gms), A.D. 215-217. NGC AU, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 5/5.
Prieur-830. Obverse: Radiate head right; Reverse: Eagle, with wreath in beak and wings spread, standing facing, head right; crescent between legs; two pellets in exergue. Likely one of the finest, most attractive examples of the type which one will ever encounter, this shimmering piece presents a solid strike on each side along with quality metal for the issue and an enchanting golden tone throughout. Assuredly worthy of an elite bid and intense focus.
