SYRIA. Seleukid Kingdom. Antiochos III (the Great), 223-187 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (16.86 gms), Uncertain Mint in Northern Mesopotamia, ca. 197-187 B.C. NGC VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 3/5.
SC-1132.6; HGC-9, 447ff. Obverse: Diademed head right; Reverse: Apollo seated left on omphalos, testing arrow and resting hand upon bow to right; AΣ and ΣA downwards in outer left field. Yielding a light, attractive tone, this piece presents a solid, well centered strike along with some underlying brilliance. A few light marks in front of the king's forehead are noted for completeness.
