MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Demetrios Poliorketes, 306-283 B.C. AR Tetradrachm, Amphipolis Mint, ca. 294-290 B.C. NGC VF. Marks.
Pr-500. Struck in the name and types of Alexander III (the Great). Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; to left, horizontal thunder above Z; kerykeion below throne. A fairly well centered and pleasing toned example, though some stray marks in the right field on the reverse are noted.
