JULIUS CAESAR. AV Aureus (8.03 gms), Rome Mint, L. Munatius Plancus, praefectus urbi, 46-45 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5.
Cr-475/1a; CRI-60; Calico-45; Syd-1019-1019a. Obverse: C CAES DIC TER, diademed and draped bust of Victory right; Reverse: L PLANC PRAEF VRB, sacrificial jug with one handle. Well centered and pleasingly struck, this issue was produced just after being proclaimed dictator for the third time ( DIC TER ) in 46 B.C. and just before his assassination on 15 March 44 B.C. A very lustrous and vibrant example of this popular and desirable type.
