SICILY. Siculo-Punic. AR Tetradrachm (17.22 gms), ca. 330-305 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.
Jenkins-47 (O16/R36); HGC-2, 741. Obverse: Head of Arethusa right, wearing grain wreath; four dolphins around; Reverse: Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving quadriga right; above, crowning Nike flying left; [Punic legend] in exergue. A deeply toned and well centered example, offering a particularly bold strike from dies of great style. This handsome and majestic piece should easily generate broad interest given its inherent appeal.
