Description

CANADA. Dominion of Canada. 2 Dollars, 1870. P-DC-3a. PMG Very Good 10.

A rare design in any grade and a note simply not associated with higher grade examples. General Wolfe at left, General Montcalm right. Arched Dominion of Canada, top center with vignette of an Indian Chief on bluff overlooking a 4-4-0 steam train. Appealing 2-TWO-2 protector in green at bottom center. Back in a cigar label style with 2 counters flanking PAYABLE AT, MONTREAL. The condition is exceptionally sound for the assigned grade with only heavy, albeit honest circulation mentioned. PMG has graded just two at this level and a pair finer at a Fine 15 and Very Fine 20 grade. PMG Very Good 10.
