Description

BRAZIL. Thesouro Nacional. 200 Mil Reis, ND (1889). P-A54p. Proof. PMG Uncirculated 62 and Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.

2 pieces in lot. The face proof shows exquisite coloring as well as design. The central vignette is a portrait of Dom Pedro II, with Rio de Janeiro at left and a coat of arms at right. The reverse of the proof shows a detailed scene of Conquistadors and priests introducing Christianity to the local population. Beautiful ornate designs surround the vignette, which is in a light red inking. The right corner of the card stock as well as the top center of the card stock has been torn away, but this does not affect the proof, as noted by PMG. Printers annotations are seen on the back of the card stock. PMG Uncirculated 62 and Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
