Description

ARGENTINA. Otero y Ca. 1/2, 1, 2, & 4 Reales, 1872. P-S1996 to S1999. PMG Mixed Grades.

(COR-18s-21s) 4 pieces in lot. This was the first private bank in Cordoba. It was founded by Benjamin M Otero who was a successful businessman who was authorized to issue his own banknotes to facilitate business transactions. The company issued notes from 1867 to 1872. In 1874, the company was given a charter to open a bank. From 1874 to 1885, notes were issued from the Banco Otero y Ca. The 1869 issue (1/2, 1 and 2 Reales) and 1874 (4 Reales) were the last issue as Otero y Ca. It is the complete set. The grades are as follows: S1996p, and S1997p, 63EPQ; S1998p, 58EPQ; & S1999p CU62 with a comment of 'small tears' on the holder. PMG Mixed Grades.
