ARGENTINA. Provincia de Buenos Ayres. 5 Pesos, 1881. P-S529p. Proof. With Vignettes. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 & 64.
The 5 pesos note was the only note prepared in 1881, but it was never issued due to the decision by the bank to issue a new set of notes backed by gold. As such it is only available as a proof or specimen. Either format is rare. The reverse Proof has a mention of Printer's Annotation in the comment section of the holder. All three of the front vignettes, including the popular Gaucho, from the American Banknote Company archives, are included. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 & 64.
From the Robert J. Bauman Collection.
