COINS OF THE GREEK WORLD. MACEDONIAN EMPIRE. Alexander III, 336-323. Tetradrachm c. 325-323/2 BC, Amphipolis. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rv. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, ithyphalic herm. 17.24 g. Price 78. Struck from slightly worn dies and with some minor scratches on the reverse. Very fine. (~€ 265/USD 305) From an old Swiss collection, formed in the mid 20th century, most likely acquired from Dr. H.
