Description

LOKRIS, LOKRIS OPUNTII, c. 356-338 BC. AR stater (23mm, 11,81g, 12h). Head of Persephone to left, wearing wreath of grain leaves, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace / ΟΠΟΝΤΙ - ΩΝ Ajax, nude but for Corinthian helmet, advancing right, holding short sword in his right hand and, in his left, a shield ornamented with a coiled serpent; between his legs, Boeotian helmet. BCD Lokris 12. Humpries & Delbridge Group I (dies combination not unrecorded). Small flaw on reverse, otherwise, Very Fine.
