SICILY, SYRACUSE, Deinomenid tyranny, c. 485-466 BC, struck under Hieron I c. 475-470 BC. AR tetradrachm (25mm, 17,26g, 5h). Charioteer driving quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses / Diademed head of Arethusa right; four dolphins around, ΣΥΡ-ΑΚΟ-ΣΙΩΝ. Boehringer series XIId, 348 (V171/R244) (same dies); SNG ANS 112. Very Fine.
