AUGUSTUS (27 BC-14 AD). Denarius. Contemporary imitation of an uncertain Italian mint.

Obv: CAEƧAR COS VI.
Bare head right; lituus to left.
Rev: ΛEGVPTO / CAPTA.
Crocodile right.

Cf. RIC² 275a (for prototype).

Highly interesting and attractive imitative issue.

Condition: Good very fine, light banker's mark on the obverse.

Weight: 3.65 g.
Diameter: 19 mm.
