Description

CILICIA. Tarsos. Tarkumuwa (Datames) (Satrap of Cilicia and Cappadocia, 384-361/0 BC). Stater.

Obv: Baal, with head and torso facing, seated right on throne, holding grain ear and grape bunch, and cradling eagle-tipped sceptre; Aramaic legend to left, thymiaterion in background; all within crenellated wall.
Rev: Ana standing right, extending hand and pointing to Tarkumuwa, standing left, leaning upon staff and raising hand; thymiaterion and Aramaic legend between; all within pelleted square border within linear square border.

Casabonne Series 3; SNG BN 291-7.

Condition: Good very fine.

Weight: 10.37 g.
