Description

ASIA MINOR. Uncertain southern mint. Stater (Circa mid 5th century BC).

Obv: City walls with three towers.
Rev: Forepart of bull right; monogram to lower right; all within incuse square.

Cf. CNG 109, lot 190; cf. Heritage 3067, lot 30189 (as Tarsos[?]).

Extremely rare and a new type for a possibly heretofore undiscovered mint, as well as one of the earliest architectural types.

Condition: Good very fine.

Weight: 10.76 g.
Diameter: 19 mm.
