★ Unrecorded Pale Electrum Drachm ★

THRACE. Apollonia Pontika. Pale "EL" Drachm (Circa 480/78-450 BC).

Obv: Upright anchor; crayfish to left, A to right.
Rev: Facing gorgoneion.

Cf. SNG BM Black Sea 153-7 (silver); cf. HGC 3.2, 1323 (same).

Though appearing to be a pale electrum rather than the expected silver, this piece is unknown in such a composition. The coin is containing 37 % Gold, 61.60 % Silver and 0.55 % Copper. Extremely rare and interesting.

Condition: Very fine.
