Ex Lamar Payne Collection (Triton XI, 8 January 2008), lot 916 (where it realized a hammer of $1,700); Classical Numismatic Review XXVI (Summer 2001), no. 98. Extremely rare with COS. IIII. Nerva's fourth consulship started on 1 January 98, at which time he also suffered a stroke. His health continued to decline, and he developed a fatal fever, ultimately passing away on 28 January. This issue comes from the extremely scarce and rare series of his ill-fated four week final consulship.
