Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great' (336-323 BC). Tetradrachm. Perge. Dated CY 25 (Circa 197/6 BC).

Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin.
Rev: AΛEΞANΔPOY (Y inverted).
Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and sceptre. Controls: ΚE in left field.

Price 2939; cf. Numismatik Naumann 67, lot 119 (for a similar example with an inverted Y).

Condition: Extremely fine.

Weight: 13.88 g.
Diameter: 29 mm.
