ISAAC II ANGELUS with ALEXIUS IV (Second reign, 1203-1204). Tetarteron. Constantinople.

Obv: MP - ΘV.
The Virgin Mary standing facing, orans, with bust of Christ on breast.
Rev: AΛЄξIOC ΔЄCΠOT.
Isaac standing facing, holding labarum and globus cruciger.

Sear 2020 corr. (cruciform sceptre); cf. CNG E-283, lot 447 (which realized a hammer of $14,000 [!] on an estimate of $100).

One of the finest known examples of the type and of this rare emperor.

Condition: Good very fine.

Weight: 4.22 g.
Diameter: 18 mm.
