Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great' (336-323 BC). Drachm. Contemporary imitation of uncertain mint in western Asia Minor.

Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin.
Rev: AΛΕZИΔ (sic).
Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and sceptre. Control: Grape bunch in left field.

Cf. Price 2766 (for prototype).

Condition: Very fine.

Weight: 3.68 g.
Diameter: 17 mm.
