KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 16.77 g, 9 h), struck under Antipater, Amphipolis, 332-326. Head of youthful Herakles in lion's skin headdress to right. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated to left on throne with his feet on a footstool, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, horizontal kerykeion above ΩΣ monogram. Price 66a. Troxell, Studies, Issue D7. With a portrait of fine style; toned. Very fine.
