LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 19.5 mm, 7.95 g, 11 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing pendant earring and a grain wreath. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to right; above leaf, star of sixteen rays; below to left, ΛΥ. HN III 1592. Johnston Class C, 8.16 (same dies). Attractively toned and lustrous; fine style die-engraving. Very tiny flatness on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
