Description

SICILY. Himera. Circa 480-470 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 18.5 mm, 8.59 g, 6 h). ΗΙΜΕRΑ Cock standing to left. Rev. Crab with annulet at the center of its shell; all within shallow circular incuse. Bucetti 17. SNG ANS 159 ( same dies ). Westermark, Himera 52.2 (O10/R45, this coin ). Lightly toned and with some luster, a most attractive coin. Some minor striking flatness, otherwise, extremely fine.
