Netherlands, The Dutch Republic. Medal (Silver, 42mm, 24.35 g 12), on the Peace of Nijmegen between the Dutch Republic and France, 1678. CONIVNGVNT SVA TELA LEO, SVA LILIA GALLVS / QVIS SEPA-RABIT (= the arrows of the lion and the lilies of the rooster are joined together - who will separate them? ) The arrows of the Dutch Republic and the lilies of France in saltire, bound by a wreath. Rev. Inscription in 9 lines: Gedachtenis / van ‘t vrêebešluit, / Soo lang gešocht, / te lang geštuit: / In ‘t eindt noch rustig / doorgedreven. / Godt laet’ de vrede- / maekers leven. / MDCLXXVIII. (= as a monument of the Peace, long desired but long transgressed, finally happily concluded. May God conserve those who made it! 1678 ). PiN 293. TMNK 00954. Van Loon III, 233-236, iii.
