Medal (Silver, 53mm, 31.34 g 12), reward medal presented to the militia by the City Council in recognition of their bravery in defending the city from Willemm II’s attack in 1650, 1652. + 1650 Den 30 Juli heeft Prinse volck de Stadt berent van Amsterdam en sijn Augusti 4 daer afghewent Crowned shield, bearing the arms of Amsterdam, supported by two lions; below, fallen warrior. Rev. + Missie Loosheyd kan het Scheep-ryck y niet Schaen - Zoo Lang er Hectors zyn die voor de Vrijheid staen. Hector, wearing armor, on horseback to left; below, on scroll, Van Hectors vaan het eerste Rot / is uyt ghedeelt dit silver lot 1652 III May . TMNK 00572. Very rare. Attractive and interesting. Very fine. Struck in imitation of engraving.
