Description

BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 400-325 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 20.5 mm, 7.82 g, 4 h). Head of Hera Lakinia three-quarters facing, turned slightly to the right, wearing stephane ornamented with palmette flanked by griffins and pearl necklace; to right, Δ. Rev. KPOT Youthful Herakles seated to left on a rock draped with his lion's skin, holding a one-handled cup in his right hand and resting his left on lion's skin; above, club and bow over MΔ; to left, tripod. HN Italy 2164. SNG ANS 382. A lustrous coin, struck on good silver. Scratch on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
