Description

BRUTTIUM. Kaulonia. Circa 440-400 BC. Third Nomos (Silver, 15.5 mm, 2.21 g, 6 h). KAY Apollo, nude, striding right, brandishing laurel branch in his upraised right hand; below his hand, stag standing right, head turned back to left. Rev. KAYΛΟNI-A[TAΝ] Stag standing right; kantharos above, Φ below. HN Italy 2056. Noe, Caulonia 216 ( same dies ). SNG ANS 219 ( same dies ). Toned; a very scarce denomination. Reverse struck from the same dies as the last. Somewhat porous surfaces, otherwise, very fine.
