Description

CAMPANIA. Neapolis. Circa 300-275 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 18.8 mm, 7.20 g, 9 h). Diademed head of nymph to right, wearing triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; below neck truncation, XAPI; to left, kantharos. Rev. NEOΠOΛITHΣ Man-headed bull walking right; above, Nike flying right, placing wreath on bull's head; below, K. HN III 569. Sambon 467b. SNG ANS 356 ( same dies ). A nicely toned example of fine style. Obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
