Description

GREEK COINS Ionia Teos, c. 500-475 BC. Stater (Silver, 19mm, 11.82g). Μ Ε Griffin, with open mouth, seated to right on orna­mental pedestal, his left forepaw raised. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Balcer 12 ( same dies ), but Μ below griffin apparently unnoticed by Balcer). Traité I, 500 = pl. XIII, 4 ( same dies , the letter is visible). A bold and attractive coin, lightly toned. Extremely fine. Ex Classical Numismatic Group 85, 15 September 2010, 432.
