MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 470 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.85 g). Lion to right, attacking bull, collapsing to left with head raised to right; above, Θ to the right of the bull's horn; below bull, base of pellets between plain lines; in exergue, floral ornament. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with granulated surfaces. Desneux 79 (same obverse die). Tselekas Period C, Class VII, Group 19, - but cf. 204/213. Sharply struck and impressive. Extremely fine.
