Description

ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 356-345 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 11.5 mm, 1.82 g, 6 h). Youthful male head (a river god?) to left, with long hair bound by a thin wreath of water reeds. Rev. ΘAΣION Herakles, wearing lion's skin, kneeling to right, drawing bow; to right, race torch; all within linear square. Le Rider, Thasiennes 20. Robinson 41 var. (symbol). West p. 41, 31α (this coin). Very rare. Toned. Good very fine.
