Description

THRACE. Ainos. Circa 357-342/1 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.84 g, 12 h). Head of Hermes facing, turned slightly to the right, wearing a flat petasos with a button at the top. Rev. AINION Cult statue of Hermes Perpheraios on throne to left; to left, grape cluster on vine. May, Ainos Group LXXII, - (cf. 455). SNG Copenhagen 418 var. (symbol). Extremely rare - apparently the only example with this symbol - toned, and of fine late Classical style. About extremely fine.
