Description

SICILY. Syracuse. Fifth Democracy, 214-212 BC. (Silver, 23 mm, 10.28 g, 2 h), 12 Litrai. Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Corinthian helmet with serpent on the bowl, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ Artemis, wearing hunting dress, standing left, drawing her bow; at her feet, hunting dog leaping to left; in field to left, ΞΑ. Burnett, Enna 24. SNG ANS 1040. Nicely toned and well-centered. Extremely fine.
