Description

SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.20 g, 7 h), c. 310-305. Wreathed head of Arethusa to left, wearing triple pendant earring and pearl necklace; around, three dolphins; below neck, ΦΙ. Rev. ΣYPAKOΣIΩN Charioteer driving quadriga to left; above, triskeles to left; in exergue, monogram of ΑΙ. Ierardi 61 (same dies). SNG ANS 642. A particularly fine example, perfectly struck, perfectly centered and nicely toned. Extremely fine.
