CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 400-390 BC. Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.80 g, 8 h). Nude ephebe, holding goad in his right hand and reins in his left, on horse galloping to right. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Phalanthos, nude, riding on dolphin to left, holding akrostolion in his right hand. FB 364h (this coin). HN III 850. Vlasto 340 (this coin, but illustrated from a damaged cast). A splendid, toned and well centered example; rare thus. Extremely fine.
