KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.16 g, 10 h), struck under Philip III Arrhidaios, Myriandos, c. 323-317. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on high-backed throne, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; in field to left, monogram of ΜΑ; below throne, monogram of ΜΙ. Price 3235. Beautifully toned, very well-centered and with an obverse struck in very high relief. Some minor scratches and a scrape on the head of Zeus, otherwise, extremely fine.
