Sicily. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. 25 Litrai (Electrum, 16 mm, 3.62 g, 2 h), c. 310-305. Laureate head of Apollo to left; behind head, bow. Rev. ΣΥΡΑΚ - ΟΣΙΩΝ Tripod with high ring handles. BMFA 447 (same dies). Jameson 846 (same dies). Jenkins O17/R34. A splendid example, well-struck and of very fine style. Almost imperceptible flan crack on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine. From the Molard Collection, Switzerland, and from the Prospero Collection, The New York Sale XXVII, 4 January 2012, 187, acquired prior to 1989.
