Cross with an ornament in each quarter, including an axe on the lower left. Savès 12. Toned and with a dramatically impressive head on the obverse. About extremely fine. What is actually extraordinary about this coin is the way the artistry of the obverse resonates with the cutting-edge modernity of the earlier 20th century! Celtic art is often strange to our eyes but this head, with its piercing/staring frontal eye, could easily have been done by Picasso or someone in his circle!
