Description

Man. Acilius Glabrio, 49 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 4.02 g, 10 h), Rome. SALVTIS (barely visible but downwards) Large aureate head of Salus to right; in field to right, punchmark S. Rev. MN ACILIVS III VIR VALETV Valetudo standing left. Babelon (Acilia) 8. Crawford 442/1b. CRI 16a. Sydenham 922. Attractively toned. Struck on a short flan, with a punchmark and some scrapes on the obverse , otherwise, extremely fine.
From the collection of W. M. Stoecklin, Winterthur, Switzerland, acquired prior to 1981.
