Description

L. Roscius Fabatus, 59 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.87 g, 6 h), Rome. L ROSCI Head of Juno Sospita to right; behind, satyr mask; in field to left, banker's mark Γ. Rev. FABATI Girl standing right, facing snake coiled to left, to left, goat hind quarter. Babelon (Roscia) 3. Crawford 412/1, symbol 42 ("mask/ham"). Sydenham 915. Toned and with an interesting symbol pair. Banker's mark on the obverse , otherwise, good very fine.
From the collection of W. M. Stoecklin, Winterthur, Switzerland, acquired prior to 1981.
