Description

M. Plaetorius M.f. Cestianus, 57 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.72 g, 7 h), Rome. Youthful male head to right; behind, uncertain symbol (Crawford pl. lxx, 77. Rev. M.PLAETORI / CEST EX S C Winged caduceus. Babelon (Plaetoria) 5. Crawford 405/5. Sydenham 807. Very attractively toned and with a splendid obverse. Grafitti on the reverse , otherwise, extremely fine.
From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired prior to 1975.
